Milford Haven
We have held the grounds maintenance contract and worked in partnership with Puma Energy at Milford Haven, for over 10 years. Our main work operation is to carry out complete weed treatment of the operational plant. There are many other grounds requirements such as grass cutting and hedge cutting of the formal lawns at the office and administration areas, tree care throughout the site, including a 3 acre woodland, cutting back buddleia and stump treatment through redundant areas also cutting and bailing of the 9 acre external paddocks.
The main focus is ensuring the 1,276-acre; 516-hectare operational plant area is completely weed free. The weed free requirement is critical to ensure no fire can be caused through the ignition of vegetation, which would be catastrophic due to the volumes of flammable substances on the plant.
The storage compounds as pictured are made up of individual bunds with embankments reaching 10 meters high in certain areas. Meticulous planning, training and methods are essential to ensure safely for all persons at the plant also the delivery of the contract. Requirements include, detailed risk assessments, permits to work, gas indicators and specific training which is mandatory for working at the refinery.
