Hailes Abbey

English Heritage is a national body responsible for the preservation & restoration of buildings & monuments of historic interest. Many of these sites are open to the public.

We were asked to tender for their grounds maintenance to a very detailed specification for the grounds and surrounds of 6 sites of special historic interest. The main one being Hailes Abbey a 13th Century Cistercian Abbey founded in 1246 in Gloucestershire by the Earl of Cornwall in thanks for surviving a shipwreck.

On the Hailes Abbey site we look after high maintenance grass areas and also, less frequently cut, wild flower areas. Along with the turf management we carry out vegetation control on gravel paths and building walls, pruning and maintenance of shrubs and climbers, hedge cutting and leaf clearance. We are also regularly asked to do one of jobs such as vegetation clearance around old buildings in need of repair or maintenance investigation.
